How Do I Pick The Right Winter Coat For My Body Type?

The Winter months are fast approaching, and it is best to be prepared before the frost comes in. Here are some tips on picking the right winter coat according to your body type.

In order to pick the perfect coat you first have to know your body type. Sometimes this can be difficult to figure out. The simplest way is to grab a measuring tape, and head to the nearest mirror.

Take your measuring tape and measure the 3 key areas of the body: chest, waist, and hips. If you are an Apple than you will notice that the measurements for your chest and waist will be larger than your hips. If you are still unsure you can look in the mirror and notice where you carry most of your weight. If most of your weight is carried above your waist than you are an Apple.

Coats For Apples:  Empire Waist
Why? Empire waist coats work well for apples as they draw attention up and away from the waist.

If you are a pear you will notice that your measurements for you chest and waist are smaller than that of your hips. If you are still unsure look in a mirror and take note of were you carry the most weight. If the answer is your hips and lower body than you are a pear.

Coats For Pears: Strong Shoulders

Why?  Jackets and coats that have strong shoulders takes attention away from your larger bottom. This gives you a more streamlined look.

If you have an hourglass shape the measurements of your chest and hips should be the same . As well as your waist being 9 inches smaller than your chest and hips. For example 36-24-36. Both the chest and the hips are the same amount of inches while the waist is 9 inches smaller.

Coats For Hourglass: Belted
Why? Winter Coats that will fit best on the Hourglass body type are those that draw attention to the feminine curves. Coats that are belted at the waist best shows off this most desired body type.

If you measure your self and do not see to much of a difference in the circumference of your inches between your chest, waist, and hips. Then you are a rectangle. What to make absolutely sure? If you are carrying weight in your stomach and backside and not your arms and legs then you are a ruler.

Coats For Rectangle: Fitted Jacket
Why? Fitted Jackets and Coats work wonders for rectangles because it gives the illusion of a more defined waist.
